When the Campos family left Ingham County, Michigan to go on vacation, they thought their dog Tawny would be safe.

They dropped Tawny off to be boarded while they were away and never imagined their vacation would come to an abrupt end.

A few days later, they were told that Tawny went missing from the protected enclosure she was staying in.

Pablo and Andrea Campos were told that Tawny ran off after being scared of some fireworks.

She scaled an 8-foot fence to escape.

If you thought that was an incredible feat, wait until you hear the rest of this story.

The Campos family had to cut their vacation short and immediately rushed home.

They searched everywhere for Tawny to no avail.

“We went door to door to people’s houses and just looking for weeks and weeks and weeks and she was nowhere to be found,” the family told WXYZ-TV.

Six long months went by with no word on Tawny, who they described as a pampered princess.

But in addition to being pampered, princesses are also strong.

What other choice do they have when fending off sadistic witches, evil stepmothers, and men who don’t acknowledge the need for consent?

While Tawny may have been a privileged pup, she was also scrappy like her fellow princesses.

Tawny somehow managed to survive in the wild on her own for six months.

No one knows how she ended up nearly 60 miles away from where she initially went missing.

Some postal workers found her living in the woods behind their Livonia office on Merriman Road.

They would feed her and ensure that she seemed OK.

However, when the weather started getting colder they didn’t want her to freeze so they reached out to South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recover to have her trapped.

After Tawny was trapped, she was scanned for a chip. The chip listed Mosaic Animal Rescue and Lynnda Malone as the contact.

Malone is a friend of the Campos family and she was able to bring Tawny home.

“She’s had a lot of good people taking care of her. She’s had guardian angels watching over her,” Malone said.

It was quite an emotional reunion when Tawny was reunited with her family six months after she first went missing.

Andrea was in tears as Tawny kissed her face all over.

The Campos family was overjoyed that their doggo was home in time for the holidays. They are calling it a true Christmas miracle.

“I know there’s so many cliches talking about Christmas miracles, but we really, actually got one,” Andrea told the news station.

Tawny was able to be reunited with her family thanks to her microchip.

Many pet owners use collars on their pets so that they can be identified if they go missing.

However, those collars can become loose and fall off leaving your pet without identification. A microchip is a computer chip that gets implanted into your pet.

If they go missing and are found, they can be taken to a local vet or shelter to have their chip scanned. Once scanned, the owner’s information will show up.
